re-Rewrite

What Happened on May 16, 2021

Hey, what's up?

Remember about a year ago, near the beginning of the pandemic, in the midst of racial turmoil, still under the reign of Trump, when at least one of us had been sleeping for several weeks and we were all basically freaking out? Remember how we wrote about a single day, Saturday, May 16?

Well, here's an invite to do it again, this Saturday, May 15, 2021.

As you may remember, the prompt started with Nicholson Baker, who chronicled a single day in April of 1994 in a one-page story (attached); the idea has been adopted by various writers since then, sometimes repeated across many years.

I thought it might be good for us to similarly revisit and rewrite, especially after this particular year...

Plus, rewrite: it's what we do.

So, if you're up for it, on Saturday, pay attention to the day and capture it in some way - notes, images, knitting, or what have you. Do whatever you like from there, and send me the results by Monday, May 31; I'll quickly redistribute; and we can plan to talk on Sunday, June 6 at around 4:00 p.m. Pacific.

If you'd like some constraints, you could revisit last year's batch of accounts, and borrow an idea. The awesome collection from last year is attached.
